Getting started with Kele as an Individual

What is the Kele Individual app?

The Kele Individual app enables users, including BetKing users, to perform wallet-to-wallet transfers within the app.

The Kele Individual app offers the following features:

  • Users can transfer money from one Kele wallet to another.
  • Users can perform various basic transactions, including transfers to other banks, receiving payments via transfers, making bill payments, and funding their Kele wallets and BetKing IDs.
  • Users can generate a betslip by using a bet code.

In addition, users can fund their accounts with cash at any authorized POS merchant.

How can I create an account on the Kele Individual app?

To create an account on Kele, you need to download the Kele app from either the Google Play Store or the iOS store.

  • Once you’ve downloaded the app, click on “Create an account”.
  • Type in your valid phone number. Once you click “Continue”, you will be sent a verification code.
  • Enter the 6-digit verification code and then proceed to enter your valid BVN and date of birth. (We need this information to verify your identity before you can use Kele)
  •   Once your BVN and date of birth have been verified, you will need to type in your place of birth and gender.
  •   Finally, create a 4-digit PIN and then you can log into your new Kele profile.

I did not get a Verification Code. What can I do?

If you did not receive a verification code, please follow these steps:

  • Double-check to ensure that you have entered the correct phone number. Click on the “Resend” button to have the app send another code to you.
  • Ensure you do not have Do Not Disturb (DND) activated on your SIM card. Please contact your service provider to check the status of the DND on your SIM card.

How do I upgrade my account from Tier 1 to Tier 3?

All new users are automatically assigned to Tier 1. Upgrading your profile to Tier 3 allows you to transact up to 1,000,000 daily. To upgrade your account to Tier 3, please follow these steps:

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele app, click on “Profile”.
  • Under the Account tab, click on “Account Limits” and then click on “Upgrade to Tier 3”.
  • You’ll need to take a selfie picture at this stage for us to verify that you’re the one in your ID photo.
    • Make sure your face shows clearly and is fully visible.
    • The picture must be taken in a well-lit environment.
  •  Once you’ve taken the selfie, you’ll need to submit it along with your government-issued ID and valid home address. We currently support these government IDs: Driver’s License, International Passport, Permanent Voters Card, and NIN. This section takes around 72 hours for us to review.
    • For Government IDs: You’ll need to upload a clear picture of the front and back of your ID.
    • For Proof of Address Verification: You’ll need to upload a clear photo of your recent utility bill that carries your home address (e.g. electricity bill receipt, water, waste, internet bill).

How do I fund my Kele account?

To fund your account, simply click the “Top Up” icon on the homepage of the Kele app.

  • You can find your Account Number and Bank Account Name at the top of the page, along with any Top-Up options you wish to choose from: Bank Transfer, Card, Cash Deposit, or Receive Money.
    • Bank Transfer: With this top-up method, you can send money directly from your preferred bank into your Kele account. Once the transfer has been confirmed, your Kele wallet balance will be updated instantly.
    • Card: With this top-up method, you can fund your Kele wallet directly using your preferred debit or credit card. Simply add the card details securely on the payment screen and your wallet will be funded instantly once you enter your transaction PIN.
    • Cash Deposit: With this top-up method, you can fund your Kele wallet by depositing your cash with any POS agent (i.e. Kele Merchant, OPay, PalmPay, nomba, FirstMonie, MoniePoint, etc.)
      • Once you locate your preferred POS agent, give the agent your cash and provide your Kele account details for a transfer.
      • Confirm that your wallet is credited before leaving the agent’s shop.
    • Receive Money: With this top-up method, you can fund your Kele wallet by receiving transfers seamlessly.

How do I Withdraw cash from my Kele account?

To withdraw from your account, simply click the “Withdraw” icon on the homepage of the Kele app.

  • Enter the amount you wish to withdraw.
  • Enter the bank account details of the account where you would like to receive your withdrawals.
  • Once you’ve entered the bank account number, select the bank name from the list provided and click “Continue” once you’ve verified that it’s correct.
  •   You can now proceed with your withdrawal by entering your transaction PIN.

How do I Send Money from my Kele account?

With the Kele app, you can send money to another Kele user or any bank account.

  • Send Money to a Bank Account:
    • Enter the bank account details you want to send money to.
    • Once you’ve confirmed the name on the account, enter the amount you wish to send.
    •   Enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transfer.
  • Send Money to a Kele User Wallet:
    • Type in the Kele user’s name, phone number, or account number.
    • Once you’ve confirmed the name on the account, enter the amount you wish to send.
    •   Enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transfer.

How do I Top Up my BetKing account?

With the Kele app, you can send money to another Kele user or any bank account.

  • Send Money to a Bank Account:
    • Enter the bank account details you want to send money to.
    • Once you’ve confirmed the name on the account, enter the amount you wish to send.
    •   Enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transfer.
  • Send Money to a Kele User Wallet:
    • Type in the Kele user’s name, phone number, or account number.
    • Once you’ve confirmed the name on the account, enter the amount you wish to send.
    •   Enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transfer.

How do I pay for Cable TV (DStv, GOtv, iROKOtv, etc.) on the Kele app?

If you want to pay for Cable TV, simply log into the Kele app and follow these steps:

  • Click the “TV” icon under the Payments section of the homepage.
  • Select your preferred cable network. You can choose from DStv, GOtv, StarTimes, and iROKOtv.
  • Enter your smartcard number and select the subscription package of your choice.
  • Once you’ve confirmed the smartcard number and selected the subscription package, click on “Continue” and enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transaction.

How do I buy Airtime/Data bundles on the Kele app?

If you want to buy airtime or data bundles, simply log into the Kele app and follow these steps:

  • Click the “Airtime” or “Data” icon under the Payments section of the homepage.
  • Select your preferred network first. You can choose from MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile.
  • Once you’ve picked your preferred network, enter the phone number you wish to recharge.
  • For Airtime: Enter the amount you wish to recharge and click on “Continue”. Then, enter your transaction PIN to confirm the recharge.
  • For Data: Select the data plan you wish to recharge and click on “Continue”. Then, enter your transaction PIN to confirm the recharge.

How do I pay for Electricity (IKEDC, EKEDC, IBEDC, etc.) on the Kele app?

If you want to pay your electricity bill, simply log into the Kele app and follow these steps:

  • Click the “Electricity” icon under the Payments section of the homepage. Select your preferred electricity service provider.
  •   Enter your meter number and select your preferred top-up package:
  • Prepaid Top-up or Postpaid Top-Up.
  •   Enter the amount and click on “Continue”.
  • Once you’ve confirmed the meter number, electricity service provider, and amount, click on “Pay Bill” and enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transaction.

How do I pay a POS Shop agent directly using the Kele app?

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele app, click on “Pay Shop”.
  • Enter the merchant’s account number or Kele phone number and confirm their account name is accurate.
  •   Type in the amount you want to pay and confirm the transaction with your PIN.

What security features does the Kele app offer?

On the Kele app, you can set biometrics (Fingerprint Authentication, FaceID, or TouchID) as your preferred login security option. You can also set a security question for recovering your account or set your account to auto-logout after 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 30 minutes after leaving the app.

How can I check my previous transaction history on the app?

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele app, click on the “Transactions” icon found on the bottom row.
  • Here, you can view all your transactions sorted from most recent to oldest. Each transaction is tagged with a unique icon and you can search up to 6 months in the past.
  • Click the “Filter” icon on the right and you should now be able to search by Transaction Type and Filter by Date.
  •   You can export the filtered transaction history to your email inbox.

I did not get an Account Number after signing up.

Upon completing your registration, all new users are automatically assigned a unique Kele account number. If you are unable to locate your account number, please contact us via email at sup[email protected], and we will gladly assist you in resolving this issue.

I was charged for making a bill payment/wallet top-up but the payment was unsuccessful.

If you attempted to make a bill payment, wallet top-up, or BetKing ID top-up on the Kele app but were charged for the transaction despite it being unsuccessful, please email us at sup[email protected]. In your email, make sure you provide us with the transaction details, a screenshot of the receipt you received, and any supporting documents. We will gladly assist you in resolving this issue.

Getting started with Kele as a Business

What is the Kele Merchant app?

The Kele Merchant app is a general-purpose e-wallet app that allows retail agents and customers to perform various transactions such as P2P transfers, play betting codes, airtime purchases, cash in/cash out, and bill payments.

Who can use the Kele Merchant app?

The Kele Merchant app is primarily aimed at all BetKing agents and it allows them to carry out collections anywhere in Nigeria via the Kele Mobile App, Kele Collections App (POS), and Kele Merchant Portal.

What features does the Kele Merchant app offer?

The Kele Merchant app wallet offers the following functions:

  • Wallet-to-Wallet Transfers: Merchants can transfer funds to Kele individual  app users and between merchants as well.
    • Merchant to Merchant transfers
    • Merchant to Individual transfers
  • Accept POS Payments: Merchants can accept POS payments from users.
  • Confirm Betslips: Merchants can confirm betslips for Kele Individual users using their Merchant app.

How does the POS Terminal feature on the Kele Merchant app work?

The POS Terminal in the Kele Merchant app consists of two apps:

  1. Kele Collections App: This app is specifically for collections and shares the same login information, wallet, and virtual account number with the Kele Mobile  App and Kele Merchant Portal. All transactions are synced between these apps, so you only need 1 secure login account to access all three apps.
  2. Agency Banking App: This feature is for all agency banking activities and shares the same login information as the Kele Collections App. However, the app functions, wallet, wallet history, virtual account number, and transaction history are different.

How can I contact the Kele Support team?

You can get in touch with us via our website using the Chatbot or by sending an email to sup[email protected] and you will receive a response within minutes.

How can I create an account on the Kele Merchant app?

To create a business account on Kele, you need to download the Kele Merchant app from either the Google Play Store or the iOS store.

  •  Once you’ve downloaded the app, click on “Create a Business account”.
  •   Type in your valid phone number. Afterward, you will be sent a verification code.
  • Enter the 6-digit verification code and then proceed to enter your full name, date of birth, and gender.
  • Finally, create a password to secure your account. The password must have at least 8 characters.
  •   The password must contain a combination of lower & uppercase alphabets,
  • numbers, and special symbols.
  • Enter your legal name and date of birth (make sure it’s the same as the one on your BVN).
  • Enter your BVN.
  •   Finally, create a unique 4-digit PIN and then you can log into your profile.

I did not get a Verification Code. What can I do?

If you did not receive a verification code, please follow these steps:

How can I verify my business account on Kele?

To upgrade your account, you first need to verify your identity by sharing a selfie with us via the Verification Portal. To complete this, follow these steps:

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele Merchant app, click on “Profile”. At the top of the Profile tab, click on the “Upgrade” banner.
  • From here, You’ll need to take a selfie picture at this stage for us to verify that you’re the one in your ID photo.
  •   Make sure your face shows clearly and is fully visible.
  •   The picture must be taken in a well-lit environment with enough light.
  • Once you’ve taken the selfie, you’ll need to submit it along with your valid home address and registered business address.
  • Next, you will need to enter your Business name, description, and nature of your business.

Now, you are all set to upgrade your account and start enjoying high transaction limits and more exclusive features.

How can I upgrade my business account on Kele?

In order to upgrade your account, you first need to provide a valid government-issued ID, your business address, Tax ID numbers, and Next of Kin details. To complete this, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Government ID verification
    • We currently support these government IDs: Driver’s License, Passport, Permanent Voters Card, and NIN. This verification takes a maximum of 72 hours for us to review.
    • Choose the ID type you prefer
    • Enter the ID number
    • Click on “Continue
    • Upload a clear photo of the front and back of your ID
  • Step 2: Address verification
    • You need to share a clear picture of a recent utility bill (i.e. electricity bill, internet bill, water bill, cable TV bill, etc.) that carries your home address. This verification takes a maximum of 72 hours for us to review
    • Upload a clear photo of the utility bill.
  • Step 3: Business verification
    • You need to enter the following numbers:
      • FIRS
      • Tax Identification Number (TIN)
      • CAC Registration Number
    •  Select the nature of your business registration (i.e. Business name or LLC)
      • If you select “Business Name”, you will be required to upload a copy of your Certificate of Incorporation and CAC Registration Form – CAC BN/1.
      •  If you select “Limited Liability Company”, you will be required to upload a copy of your Certificate of Incorporation and Memorandum & Articles of Association.
  • Step 4: Next of Kin
    • You need to first enter your alternate phone number.
    • Finally, add the full name of your Emergency contact or Next of Kin, their phone number, and select the relationship with the Next of Kin shared.

After sharing all of these, you will be reviewed within 72 hours and you’ll be notified via the in-app notification or email.

How do I fund my account?

How do I pay someone using the QR Code feature?

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele app, click on “Scan QR”.
  •   Click on “Scan QR Code” and proceed to scan the image of the QR code. (If the other person is using the Kele Customer app, ask them to click on the
  • QR code on their profile page which is located at the top right corner near the notification icon). 🔔
  • Type in the amount you want to pay and confirm the merchant’s name is correctly displayed.
  •   Enter your transaction PIN to confirm the transaction.

How do I receive money using the QR Code feature?

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele app, click “Scan QR”.
  •   Click on “Generate QR Code” and your QR code will be instantly generated.
  • Click on “Set an amount” to set an amount for your customer to pay using the QR code.
  • Now, share the QR code with your customer so they can scan it using their Kele app and pay you instantly.
  •   Once you’ve confirmed the payment in your wallet, you can clear the amount.

How do I pay a POS Merchant directly using the Kele app?

  • Once you’ve logged into the Kele app, click “Pay Shop”.
  • Enter the merchant’s account number and confirm their account name is accurate.
  •   Type in the amount you want to pay and confirm the transaction with your PIN.

What security features does the Kele app offer?
